Helpful Terms

Wood Veneer - A thin layer of wood that is typically rotary peeled from a log, therefore producing a high yield.  It is then usually glued to a manufactured wood substrate.

High Pressure Laminate (HPL) - A High Pressure Laminate is a thermoset paper/plastic composite, where decorative papers impregnated with melamine are consolidated over phenolic-impregnated kraft papers at high temperature and pressure to form a homogeneous laminate. This material is then glued to a manufactured wood substrate.

RTA - Ready to assemble.  Terminology assigned to furniture that is in need of assembly.  The amount of skill needed to assemble varies between manufacturers.
